The
image of the Virgin of Conception is one of the most antique vestiges
of Isla Mujeres, it is the founder of the Church and religious
activities.
Nowadays, the celebrations in honor of the virgin of the Immaculate
Conception are held on August 7th.
The
image of the Virgin is brought down for eight days of prayers,
and then taken back to its altar on August 15th. November 29th
is the beginning of nine days of prayers, processions, and bullfights
in the Bay of Isla Mujeres with masses celebrated in town everyday.
